by Alumni Coordinators – Neil McCallum & Kelly Wolf
Our “Adopt a Stop” program was developed to support the committed riders of BTUSFMS. Over the years, many of our Alumni have come out to support our riders as they venture along their routes. The recent Florida Coast ride is a prime example.
Thank you to Stormi & Joe Trumble, Brian & Kerry Winkler and Sherry & Larry Sietsma for supporting our riders as they made their way from Fernandina Beach to Key West. Brian & Kerry share their experience (below).
Thank you to all that respond to our Adopt a Stop emails and meet up with the riders. The meals, snacks and beer are just some of the ways that the appreciation is shown. Please make sure that your contact information (physical address) is up to date so that you do not miss the emails announcing the routes and dates. Please respond to alumni@biketheusfms.org with any updates.
Thoughts on ‘Adopt a Stop’ from Brian and Kerry!
We are Brian and Kerry Winkler, and I (Brian) rode the TransAmerica ride in 2024 in honor of my wife. Kerry who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2011. Last month, we had a blast hosting the Florida Coast team as they came through Titusville, FL. It was an easy 45 minute drive from our home in Orlando, which allowed us to easily bring some homemade goodies along with fresh fruit and snacks.
We were thrilled to share our story of living with MS as a family. The team was especially encouraged as they heard firsthand from Kerry how programs and services like those made possible by donations from BTUSFMS have helped her on her journey. As an added bonus, adopting a rest stop for BTUSFMS is a great way to stay connected with friends we have made along the way!
