Fundraising to fight MS

Thinking about joining us at Bike the US for MS? Take a look at the fundraising goals you will need to meet to make the most of your trip and impact as many people as possible!

The money you raise will have a direct and lasting impact on the community of almost 1 million people in the US living with MS. You may or may not have a close connection to MS. Either way, when you complete your adventure with us, you will have a deep understanding of who we are riding for. It is our job to connect you with the cause and our privilege to distribute your hard-earned fundraising to organisations and individuals that need it most.

Important Fundraising Deadlines:

  • In the two months following your acceptance, you need to raise $500. This will secure your spot on the team and ensure we are not holding spots for people who aren’t planning to ride.
  • To encourage riders to not fall behind in fundraising, everyone should have raised at least half the requirement by two months before the trip’s start date.
  • If you exceed your fundraising minimum, we will be able to give more to the amazing organisations that we support! Go above and beyond for those living with MS and we’ll send you gratitude filled custom Bike the US for MS gear!
    • Raise $1,000 over the fundraising minimum
      • A $50 credit to our Etsy store
    • Raise $2,500 over the fundraising minimum
      • Your choice of a Bike the US for MS branded Adidas jacket or cubby sized duffle bag
    • Raise $4,000 over the fundraising minimum
      • BOTH of the items listen above
    • Raise $6,000 over the fundraising minimum
      • Everything listed above and more!

Where do the dollars go?

Every mile you ride helps fund real impact for people living with MS across the country. This year, rider fundraising supported medical research, wellness programs, and community initiatives from coast to coast. This includes major donations in 2025 to the Swedish MS Center in Seattle, the Fairview MS Achievement Center in Minneapolis, and the Cleveland Clinic’s MS research lab. Funds also went to grassroots programs like MS I’mPossible, Meat Fight, and the MS Alliance of Virginia, helping people with MS access care, mentorship, adaptive bikes, and community support. Smaller but equally meaningful contributions were made to the Boston Home, MS Dream Center, University of Miami, and Barrow Neurological Institute. We also provide direct support through our Nina Fraser Scholarship and grants program with the National MS Society. This ensures your fundraising has a lasting impact on MS care, research, and empowerment nationwide.

Fundraising Guidelines:

  • The final fundraising deadline is the start of the trip! You must reach the fundraising minimum to participate in the trip.
  • If you have not reached the halfway fundraising amount two months before the trip, we will be in contact to see if we can help. This is when Bike the US for MS begins spending money on your behalf and we want to ensure it is being spent on those who will meet their goal and participate in the ride.
  • If you’re enrolled on a Bike the US for MS team, you cannot transfer or raise funds for another rider in the organisation. Additionally, any funds raised above the fundraising minimum may not be transferred or carried over to a future ride.
  • We encourage every cyclist to set a fundraising goal over the minimum amount. The more you raise, the more we can help people living with MS and donate to research!
