It begins in our country’s oldest city and heads north, cruising along the Outer Banks past several iconic lighthouses. You’ll dip into peaceful farmland and then the bustling city atmosphere of Richmond, our nation’s capital, and Philadelphia. The northern end of the trip rolls through many of New England’s charming towns, and then finishes up just outside the incredible Acadia National Park on the rocky coast of Maine.

Highlights: Start your ride on the white sand beaches of St. Augustine, the oldest European settlement in North America. Traverse the southern states of Georgia and South Carolina, taking in the historic charm of Savannah and Charleston. Relax on the sandy shores of Myrtle Beach before taking a ferry ride along the picturesque coast of North Carolina, leading you to the charming port city of Wilmington.

Highlights: Experience the beauty of North Carolina and Virginia on a journey that takes you from the mountains to the sea. Start by crossing the state of North Carolina and taking a leisurely ferry ride to The Outer Banks. Enjoy an exciting cycling adventure as you explore the natural wonders of this barrier island chain. Then, visit the Wright Brothers Memorial and learn about the pioneering spirit of these two bicycle mechanics who changed the course of history with their first successful flight. Finally, end your trip by riding the Capitol Trial into the historic  and vibrant city of Richmond, Virginia. For an even more memorable experience, consider extending your ride by four days to end your trip in the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C.

Highlights: Experience the beauty of the rolling hills and lush forests of Virginia as you begin your journey on two wheels. Next, take a leisurely ride on The Mount Vernon Trail, a picturesque paved trail that winds along the Potomac River offering breathtaking views of the National Mall and iconic landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument while throughout Washington DC.

Continue on to the Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail as it winds through Maryland and into Pennsylvania, passing through picturesque countryside, including the Prettyboy Reservoir and Gunpowder Falls State Park. As you pass through Lancaster County, take the time to appreciate the tranquil Amish and Mennonite farmland that dots the landscape.

Make a stop at the Valley Forge National Historical Park, where you can learn about the Revolutionary War and the role this location played in it while taking in the natural beauty of the area. Finally, your journey ends in Conshohocken, just outside of Philadelphia, where you can enjoy a train ride into the bustling city while reflecting on the scenic and historical journey you’ve just completed.

Highlights: After taking in the sights and sounds of Philadelphia on your own, it’s time to join the team in Conshohocken for the next leg of the journey. From here, you’ll head north and traverse the majestic Appalachian Trail, taking in the stunning views of the Delaware Water Gap. As you make your way through the northeastern corner of New Jersey, you’ll come across picturesque towns and villages.

 

Next, you’ll cross the Hudson River on a pedestrian bridge and enter Poughkeepsie, where you’ll have the opportunity to admire the scenic views of the river. As you continue through Connecticut, you’ll pass through charming towns and picturesque countryside and cross the corner of Rhode Island. Finally, you’ll enter the historic state of Massachusetts, where you’ll have the opportunity to take in the rich history and culture of the area. Your journey will come to an end just outside of Boston, in Westborough.

Start by exploring Boston on your own, then join the team in Westborough, ready to tackle the scenic landscapes of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. As you make your way to the rugged and beautiful coast of Maine, be prepared for breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Ride along the rocky jagged shore of Downeast Maine and the expansive sand beaches south of Portland, taking in the natural beauty that surrounds you. After arriving in Bar Harbor, spend a few days immersing yourself in the diverse recreational opportunities of Acadia National Park, from hiking to camping to wildlife viewing. Don’t miss this opportunity to create unforgettable memories while exploring this beautiful region.
