2012 TransAm Route

Yorktown, VA to San Francisco, CA
June 1 - August 1, 2012

The TransAm route connects the TransAmerica Trail with the Western Express in Pueblo, CO. The TransAmerica begins in Yorktown, VA and is the most traveled route crossing America. This classic ride offers everything you would expect from a transcontinental crossing. You'll encounter all kinds of scenery and terrain, including forest, desert, mountain passes, snowy peaks, expansive plains, farmlands, rolling hills, and winding rivers. Some stretches of the western portion of the route can be generally flat, but expect some climbing almost every day between Pueblo and San Francisco. The Rocky Mountain passes are long but not terribly steep & the descents are incredible. The Virginia portion of the route has more total elevation gain than any other state.
