About Kevin O'Brien
I am a 69 (going on 9) year old retired teacher who enjoys bike riding, drinking and rugby. In my far off younger days I backpacked and hitchhiked in many parts of the world and enjoy anything related to travel. My reasons for taking part in Bike the US for MS are the same as when I rode in the 2011 inaugral Northern Tier ride for MS. which was a major challenge for me but also a life highlight for which I am grateful.
" A number of family and friends in theU.K. and the U.S. are directly affected by M.S. My goal is to raise awareness and to contribute in some small way to research to overcome M.S. As an educator I have worked with many students and adults with physical challenges and have been consistently impressed by their strength of character and fortitude. Although the major focus is on achieving a "cure" small changes in the environment and support networks can open up new horizons, We can help to improve the quality of life for people with M.S, and their caregivers by supporting ventures such as 'Bike the U.S. for M.S,' "
I had hoped to do another transcontinental ride before I was 70 but that might have to wait another year or so, In the meantime I am riding 400 miles from Bar Harbor, Maine to Middlebury, Vermont.
You can make a difference. Please support the goal of achieving a cure for M.S. by contributing to my aim of raising $800-1000.
