About Jennifer Cherry
Holy cow! Another cross country ride! I am one lucky cyclist who cannot wait for May 2016 to get here.
My first cross-county ride happened the summer 2012. Then, I rode to honor my mom who had passed away in December 2011 from complications due to MS. For many years, my mom suffered from strange physical ailments. She went from doctor to doctor, trying to find out what was causing her foot to all the sudden not work, her fingers to tingle, her loss of taste and smell, and her pain in her back and hips. Finally, in August 1997, she received the answer to what was happening to her body: Multiple Sclerosis. The doctor told her she might have 10 years. Because she was a fighter, my mom had that 10 years and 4 more.
To continue her story and to fight for all of those living with MS, I took on the challenge that is Bike the US for MS. It was the best decision I have ever made, and it was the best summer I have ever had. The impact that summer has had on my life is inexplicable. At the end of the summer 2012 TransAm ride, I said I was going to one day do the Northern Tier ride for Bike the US for MS.
So here I am!
And now I need your help. Actually, if truth be told, it’s not really me who needs your help. It’s all those living with MS, those caring for someone suffering from MS, and those working to find a cure to eliminate that which is MS who need your help. None of us are, or should be, in this alone. It’s when we all join together that great things happen.
Let’s make a great thing happen this summer. Let’s raise a buttload (which is an actual unit of measurement—seriously—it really is) of money that will not only go towards research in hopes of finding a cure, but will also go towards adding a ramp to the home of someone who finds herself having to use a wheelchair because her legs no longer function, or installing safety grab bars in the bathroom of someone who finds his balance isn’t what it used to be, or one of the many other needs one living with MS faces.
