Hi! I'm Ashley, a Sophomore Nursing major at The Master's College in Santa Clarita, CA. First of all, I want to thank you for taking the time to read this, I know there are more pressing issues that could use your attention right now, but I promise when you're finished reading this, your time won't be wasted nor will it be regretted.
When I first heard of Bike the US for MS, it wasn't a matter of IF I would participate in it, but WHEN. MS has been a part of my life since I was born. No, I wasn't diagnosed with it, but one of the most important people in my life was -- my mother, Rebecca Ann. She battled MS from the time she was 21 until the day she passed away at the age of 36. She went through more pain than anyone should ever have to go through and was in and out of hospitals. Through everything she went through, never once did a complaint cross her lips and she always had a smile on her face. The love she had for God, life, and people was evident in everything she did and everything she said.
It's for my beautiful Mother that I not only want to participate in Bike the US for MS, but I have to. If this money that we are trying to raise can help to find a cure for this plaguing disease, then others won't have to go through what my Mom and so many have struggled with. I also want to do this for those who wish they could, but aren't physically equipped to.
For those of you fathers and mothers who have lost sons and daughters to this disease; daughters and sons who have lost fathers and mothers; siblings who have lost siblings...my thoughts and prayers are with you.
And for those of you who are struggling with MS right now, please know that through this, you will be on my heart and in my prayers. There is a cure out there, we just have to find it.
If you would like to hear more of my story, please email me and I'd be more than happy to share with you.
For those of you who are reading this and are financially able to donate to help me bike across the US, it is very much appreciated. Every dollar will help me to reach my goal, and with every dollar donated, we are one step closer to finding a cure for MS.
If you would like to send a personal donation to cover expenses such as the flight, food while I am there, a new bike, and a tent, please shoot me an email at email@example.com and I'd be more than happy to send you my mailing address :)
Thank you, again, to those of you who are helping to provide the finances and resources needed for me to Bike the US for MS in June 2013 :)
P.S. I love that Bike the US for MS isn't solely focused on raising money, but also on the service projects that our team will complete along the way :)
